Mangalore Marine College and Technology is dedicated to providing world-class maritime education and training in full compliance with IMO directives, DGS guidelines, and STCW conventions.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY

Mangalore Marine college and Technology has ZERO TOLERANCE to drug or alcohol use in the institute/ Hostel premise. Drug and alcohol may have serious impact on the employee’s or student’s health and our safety operation, as well as causing significant social problems.

Therefore possession, consumption, distribution or sale of alcohol and/or drugs in any form is strictly prohibited in institute premises and Hostel accommodation and offices.

By violating this, the employee becomes liable to summary dismissal /termination of employment, or other disciplinary actions.

Employees (defined as ALL employees regardless of students or staff) shall not consume prior reporting for duty or starting any work, or in general to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs when reporting for duty or starting any work.

Any student, Faculty and /or staff will lend themselves liable to disciplinary reactions, ranging from but not limited to, cover of all additional cost for Mangalore Marine college and Technology and dismissal /termination of employment.

Mangalore Marine college and Technology reserves the right to carry out unscheduled inspections to detect the presence of alcohol and/or drugs on Mangalore Marine college and Technology premises.

Testing will be carried out following an incident/accident as deemed necessary or on a random basis, and is applicable to all Mangalore Marine college and Technology Students, employees and staff.

Similarly, testing may be carried out for any reasonable cause or suspicion should any employee demonstrate suspicious and/or dangerous behaviour individually or involving others.

Alcohol and drug testing will be performed either by trained personnel or at a subcontracted medical facility and any confirmed positive results can lead to termination of employment for professional misconduct.


SEXUAL HARRASSMENT POLICY

Mangalore Marine college and Technology is dedicated to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all students and employees, free from discrimination, harassment, and any form of misconduct, including sexual harassment.

The institute is committed to fostering a workplace and academic setting that ensures all individuals can work, learn, and interact without fear of prejudice, gender bias, or harassment.

The institute upholds the belief that every employee and student has the fundamental human right to be treated with dignity and respect.

Sexual harassment, whether occurring in the workplace or during official duties, is considered a serious violation of this principle.

Any such incident involving the Institute's employees or students is regarded as a grave offense and will be addressed according to applicable laws.

Mangalore Marine college and Technology enforces a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment, ensuring that all allegations are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.

The Institute is committed to addressing complaints promptly and impartially, with appropriate disciplinary actions taken against those found guilty of sexual harassment.

These actions can include dismissal from employment or expulsion from the institute.

All complaints of sexual harassment will be treated with confidentiality and respect, ensuring that the complainant is protected from retaliation.

The institute assures that no individual will face victimization for reporting an incident of sexual harassment.

This policy emphasizes the importance of a safe and respectful environment for all members of the institute’s community.
