Hon’ble Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Inaugurates MMCT 2.0 Campus — A New Era of Maritime Excellence Begins in Mangalore

The Mangalore Marine College & Technology (MMCT), under the CMC Group of Institutions, proudly inaugurated its newly renovated and upgraded campus — MMCT 2.0, marking a major milestone in India’s maritime education landscape.
The grand inauguration ceremony was graced by Shri. Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, who unveiled the new campus infrastructure and officially launched MMCT 2.0 – The New Era of Maritime Excellence.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Shri. Shyam Jagannathan, Director General of Shipping, senior officials from the Indian Maritime University (IMU), representatives from reputed international shipping companies, and various state and industry leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri. Sarbananda Sonowal commended the efforts of MMCT in advancing maritime training and contributing to India’s Blue Economy vision.
Institutions like MMCT play a vital role in preparing the next generation of skilled seafarers and marine engineers who will lead India’s growth in the global maritime sector. This new campus embodies the spirit of excellence, innovation, and sustainability.
Founded in 2010, MMCT holds the distinction of being Karnataka’s first and only Directorate General of Shipping (DGS)-approved marine college. With over 2,400 alumni serving across the world’s oceans and 200+ students currently enrolled, MMCT continues to be a trusted name in maritime education.
